In some cases, scammers may modify the phone number your phone recognises as the origin of the call (a practice called caller spoofing) so that their fraudulent calls appear to be from a BookATechGuru.com number.

In addition, scammers may also send phishing emails from an email address that seems like it is coming from BookATechGuru.com

Effective Tips to Stay Safe

In order to take advantage of you, scammers usually try to gain your trust and to control your actions by using one or more of the following tactics:

  • Request you to call them back at another time to “complete” a false technical assistance case and potentially try to scam you further. Usually redirecting you to another website or phone number.

Note our specialists would never direct you to any other sites or ask you to call a different phone number to those published in our site.

  • Try to persuade you that your technology needs urgent technical review, and then request payment details (e.g. credit card, debit card, or online gift card) to charge you for false services.

Note our specialists would never ask your payment details over the phone as we only take payments using our secure online payment system, avoiding the need for our staff members to have access to your payment details.

  • Request remote access to your technology, or try to persuade you to install apps or software that enables remote access. This is when in fact, they may be trying to install malicious software including malware, viruses, or software that could spy on your device, jeopardising the security of your personal information.

Note our specialists will only ask you to download / install secure and safe technology hosted in our official website or by widely recognised brands.

  • Request you to provide confidential information such as user IDs, passwords, customer support case numbers, or account history.

Note our specialists will never request you share private information such as passwords. Instead, you will be asked to type such information by yourself using your own technology when strictly necessary.

  • Email you using a fraudulent copy of our official email formats asking you to provide confidential information such as your phone number, address or password

Note our staff will only ask you to confirm basic contact information that is required to deliver your assistance but no other information. They will never ask you to share any password.

  • Ultimately, they may even act aggressively and try to intimidate you demanding that you follow their instructions.

Please do not feel like you have to continue a communication with someone you think is one of our representatives, if you ever think their approach intimidates you. Instead, terminate the communication without delay, and contact us to report the incident.

We expect those cases to be caused by in fact scammers, however, in the rare event that one of our representatives has acted inappropriately, be assured we will take swift action to promptly deliver your service and to obtain your full satisfaction.
